Physics: model before equation
- Sketch the system and define the positive direction.
- Distinguish distance from displacement and speed from velocity.
- State the conditions behind each conservation law or formula.
- Check dimensions, signs and limiting cases.
Mathematics: definitions and domains
- Write the domain before manipulating a function.
- Check for excluded values when dividing an equation.
- Distinguish necessary conditions from sufficient conditions.
- Verify a solution in the original equation.
Chemistry: quantities and structure
- Balance an equation before using mole ratios.
- Distinguish molarity, molality and mass fraction.
- Relate periodic trends to electronic structure.
- For reactions, note reagents, conditions and products together.
Biology: recall and comparison
- Draw a labelled diagram from memory, then compare it with your source.
- Compare mitosis and meiosis by purpose, divisions and chromosome number.
- Separate genotype from phenotype.
- Explain the connection between structure and function.
Keep a small error log
For each mistake, record: topic → what went wrong → corrected reasoning → retry date. Revisit the problem after a gap and solve it independently.
